Goalie Nation is returning soon!In the meantime, enjoy some new interviews... New Features: Freshman Starter • Freshman in College • Goalies in the Workplace Feature: Freshman StarterInterview with Sean McCoy (VMI) The VMI Keydets had a less than ideal last season, finishing
with a 2-11 record. However many of these games were kept close
by the outstanding play of freshman keeper Sean McCoy, who
quickly learned how to put the last goal behind him and focus
on the next shot. Interview with Suzy Herlihy (SJU)The developing Saint Joseph’s University Womens’ lacrosse
team was helped to a respectable 7-9 record by the shutdown
ability of freshman goalie Suzy Herlihy. Suzy finished
in the top 10 in the nation with a .517 save percentage and
an 8.69 GAA, one of two freshmen who cracked the top 10 in
save percentage.
Feature: Freshman in CollegeInterview with Mackenzie Worthington (UD) As the backbone of a dominant defense at Dulaney HS in MD
last year, Mackenzie gave up just over 6 goals per game on
her way to a 13-3 record and All-American accolades. Now a
freshman at Delaware, Mackenzie is getting prepared for the
start of the 2008 season. Interview with John Falcone (Yale) Yale has picked up a talented keeper in Falcone, who was
a three year starter and captain his senior year at 17-5 Hunterdon
Central HS. John holds his high school’s single season
(296) and career saves (807) records and looks to continue
his success as a Bulldog. Interview with Sheila Serafino (BC) Anchoring the stingy Hamilton-Wenham defense to 8.5 GA per
game, Sheila led her team to a 7-5 record her senior year on
the way to All-American honors. Now a freshman at Boston
College, Sheila is working hard to make a bid for the starting
spot on BC’s roster.
Feature: Goalies in the WorkplaceInterview with Kyle CloutierNo mention of Springfield College’s success over the
past 4 yeas would be complete without bringing up their man
between the pipes, Kyle Cloutier. At 6’2”, Kyle
was a presence in the net and used his quick hands and great
on-field leadership to stone opposing offenses and start Springfield’s
transition. Interview with John Pagano (USMMA)This past spring the US Merchant Marine Academy burst onto
the DIII lacrosse scene as a force to be reckoned with. The
Mariners surprised many people, finishing the season on top
of the Skyline Conference and earning the team its first NCAA
tournament berth. |
