Why do you play?
I just love playing - it's that simple. It's relaxing and allows me to get away from outside stresses. All aspects of lacrosse benefit my life. I am one member of a team of 50 guys who all hang out and have a great time together. Lacrosse has benefited my life as a whole - not just on the field. It has not only taught me a number of lessons in life, but also provided me with a number of opportunities that I consider myself extremely lucky for receiving. I have formed a number of life-long friendships because of it and know that lacrosse will continue to benefit long after I am done playing.
Why are you a goalie?
I started playing because of Scott Bachigalupo and have really enjoyed the position ever since. Being the goalie of a team automatically puts you in a leadership position on the team. If you aren't a verbal leader, you are still very much so a leader by leading through example. I like trying to lead teams and goalie has always put me in a position where I have this ability.
How important is the goalie position?
Like any position, the goalie position is extremely important to any successful lacrosse team. You are the last line of defense and more importantly, the guy who keeps the team composed and together. You have the ability to dictate the pace of a game and ultimately change the score in the end.
Any advice for aspiring goalies?
Being a goalie is 90% mental, and 10% physical. After you get scored on, you can't get wrapped up in it. You need to just put it behind you and worry about getting the next one. You need to keep your head in the game and always give your best effort.
