Number & Why |
After getting
stuck with #29 for my freshman year, I came back wanting to wear
a single digit number like I did in high school. I switched to #2
not really caring about who wore it before me, I just thought it
was cool. But as the year went on I realized that one of the best
college and international goalies Sal LoCascio also wore #2, along
with others at Umass like John Kasselakis. But at the same time
I try to make a name for myself while I wear #2. |

I prefer any

(I think any kind of glove is fine) and the STX Eclipse mostly just
because its what I'm comfortable with. |

Why do
you play?
I play goalie for the excitement. There's nothing better than making
a big save in a big game. |
Why are
you a goalie?
I'm a goalie now because I have fun playing it. |
How important
is the goalie position?
The goalie position is important because you are in charge of the
defense. As a goalie you see what is going on with the defense and
you have to make sure that your defense is playing correctly. If
you do this you will see less shots and as a group you will all
play better. |
Any advice
for aspiring goalies?
As a young goalie it is important to stay relaxed in the goal and
see the ball come out of the offensive players stick. |
Quote
regarding the goalie position
"Goals are going to go in, it's the next one that counts"
-Terry Mangen |
“ Bill Schell's play in 2003
has been outstanding. Through his preparation he has gained confidence
in his ability and play. Bill has the uptmost respect from his teammates,
which helps them play relaxed in front of him. Bill has also been
able to put the last play(good or bad) behind him and focus on the
next play. That is extremely important for a goalie in the sport of
lacrosse where teams have the ability to score in bunches! ”
