At school I use Brine, because

Why do you play?
For the love of the game. It may be a cliche to say so, but I truly
do. Lacrosse is such an amazing sport. Some of my most memorable
experiences have been because of lacrosse. |
Why are you a goalie?
Because I love the thrill of making that big save. As a goalie,
you can speak to your teammates by allowing your stick to do the
talking. You have the ability to change the momentum of the game
by making that one save that gets your teammates going. |
How important is the
goalie position?
Personally, I feel that goalies are just as important as football
quarterbacks. Can you imagine the game without a quarterback? Goalies
have the ability to see the whole field and from a different perspective.
You see everything from attack all the way down to your crease.
Because of this perspective, goalies are able to communicate whatever
needs to be to their teammates. |
Any advice for aspiring
goalies?
Play as much as possible and enjoy every moment of it. Also, keep
your head up. There will be days that nothing is going right for
you. It seems as if you can't even hold your stick properly to make
an easy save. We all have them. The important thing is how you deal
with it and what you can learn from it. |
Quote regarding the
goalie position
You can't save the ball that is already in, you just gotta look
forward towards the next shot and know that you can do it. |
“ We believe Jen is one of the
best goalies in the country. She backs up that statement through her
play in big games and with her statistics. She was solid in the cage
as a sophomore but had a breakthrough season as a junior. Being fundamentally
sound is one reason Jen has performed so well on the collegiate level.
One of her best assets is her composure. When the game is tight and
we need a big save, Jen gets it done. She also maintains her composure
and reads the attacker very well when she is faced with a one on one.
Jen is an integral part of our defensive unit. She communicates with
the rest of the defense to help form a more cohesive unit. Jen doesn't
limit herself by just making saves, she is also active outside the
cage. She is very good at intercepting passes around the crease and
chasing down loose balls. I think Jen would agree when I say she loves
playing in the cage. She knows how important a strong goalkeeper can
be to the success of a team. Jen works hard every day to keep improving
and it shows on the field.
It has been great having a goalkeeper of Jen's caliber play for Notre
Dame. We wouldn't be ranked in the top 20 without her. ”
