Importance of the Goalie Position

The goalie is the last line of our defense and the first line of our attack !! Therefore the goalie is an important part of our team. I feel that the goalie must be, as any other player, another member of the team. Her position is a speciality one, but no more or less than any other position on the field. It is just that her play is seen and evaluated more highly by the spectators as compared to the other 11 positions.

A good goalie can definitely keep a team in the game. She can lift a team by one play like no other player. She can also set the tone for the game and it is imperative that she be as prepared to perform as all the other players. A goalie can help and be helped by those around her and must want to make a difference for her team !!

Who's her Goalie, recognized as HOT by Goalie Nation?
Michelle Gannon
