Brief Bio

“Everyone has to start somewhere. Cathy Swezey saw to it that the Vanderbilt Commodores started on top in their first season in the American Lacrosse Conference.

In her fifth season as Vanderbilt's head coach Swezey led the Commodores to the inaugural American Lacrosse Conference championship, a title which will secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by the 2004 season.”

Importance of Goalie Position I consider the goalie position the most important and most difficult position on the field.  There is a lot of pressure on the goalie to perform, even though there are 11 other players that have the opportunity to stop or slow the ball down.  It is important that a goalie is level headed and not too emotional.  Shut-outs are incredibly rare, so she needs to be able to recover from a missed save and learn from it.  A goalie also needs to be confident and hard working.  The position is so specialized and it takes a lot of repetitive work to play to the best of your ability.

Who's her Goalie, recognized as HOT by Goalie Nation?
Ashley Bastinelli
