Why do
you play?
Sounds typical, but absolutely for the love of the game. I love
competition, and being part of a team. |
Why are
you a goalie?
When I first decided to play goalie, when ours graduated my freshman
year, it was because I thought I wouldn't have to run as much. Well
that didn't work out. It became a mentality. I love to stare other
players down, especially on free position shots, and just know that
I can do it. Again, I love competition, and being able to shut another
team down is the greatest feeling. |
How important
is the goalie position?
It is definately a very important position on the field, but every
position is important. Goalies have the ability to see everything
in front of them though, and that can help out especially the defense. |
Any advice
for aspiring goalies?
There are a ton of drills out there that can prepare you physically
for the game, but the most important thing to remember is that it
is a mentality. Just watching the ball and telling yourself... "she's
going to go to goal.. hell no is she going to score". |
Quote
regarding the goalie position
"Do you remember why you play, or has it been too long?
Is it because you've worked so hard to get where you are, or because
you love to be part of a team?
Is it because you love the roar of the crowd or the anxiety before
a game?
Is it because you don't want to let anyone down, or yourself?
Is it because you love the feeling of a perfect goal, or because
you would rather be on the field than anywhere else in the world?
Somewhere behind the athlete you've become, and the hours of practice,
and the coaches who pushed you, and the teammates who believe
in you, and the fans who cheer for you, is the little girl who
first picked up a stick - the one who fell in love with playing
and never looked back.... Play for her."
