Why do
you play?
I play because I have loved the game my whole life, and I couldn’t
imagine not playing. |
Why are
you a goalie?
I am a goalie because I enjoy the pressure and having the ability
to have a large effect on the game to help keep a team in it when
the chips are down. |
How important
is the goalie position?
The goalie position is one of the most important positions on the
field. The goalie must have good stick skills, quick reaction time,
a good sense of the game, and most importantly be able to lead the
team. A goalie must know at all times where all of his defensemen
are, where all the slides are coming from and coordinate this with
the other 6 players in his end of the field. |
Any advice
for aspiring goalies?
Focus on perfecting the little things, because that’s what
wins big games, and communication is a goalies largest asset. |
Quote
regarding the goalie position
Forget about the last goal allowed and focus on the next possession
to defend. This is best achieved by effectively communicating with
your defense. Lacrosse is a team sport. |
“ Kevin Woods is a competitor
in the truest sense of the word. He comes from the nation's most successful
high school lacrosse program -- Ward Melville HS in New York and knows
what it takes to win. His two greatest assets as a goaltender are
the fact that he thrives under pressure in big games and his ability
to focus on the next shot not the last one. ”
