Why do
you play?
excitement of competition and being a part of a team |
Why are
you a goalie?
originally because both of my older sisters had played goalie but
then for the feeling when you make a great save or stuff a crease
roll |
How important
is the goalie position?
goalie is one of the most critical positions on the field, the goalie
is expected and needed to be one of the teams leaders and one of
the most mentally and physically tough players. the goalie can easily
dictate the attitude and therefore play of the entire team |
Any advice
for aspiring goalies?
realize that you are a part of the team as well, even though your
position is more individual - winning or losing is a team effort
and the earlier you realize that it isn't all the goalies fault
the better you will be able to become |
Quote
regarding the goalie position "You're really playing against
yourself. You have to learn what you can control and what you can't,
and not let what you can't control affect your confidence."
-Mike Richter goalie for NY Rangers |
“ X, as she is affectionately
known on our team, had a fantastic season this year. As a first-year
starter in a highly competitive league, X stepped up to the challenge
with great poise. Her teammates relied on her consistent play and
level-headed attitude. She provided a ton of stability in the backfield
and notched amazing performances in some key games for us, particularly
our regular season games against NESCAC foes Amherst, Williams, and
Colby.
It's been great watching X mature and improve in each of her first
3 years at Trinity. She has worked so hard at the technical aspects
of the position with our goalie coach, Kevin Hicks, and she is really
tapping her full potential between the pipes. I'm so eager to see
what she'll bring to the team next year. After a year of experience
as a starter under her belt, I think she's going to WOW everyone not
only with her play in the cage, but also by her presence as a team
leader on the field. ”
