Why do you play?
I play for a number of different reasons. First and foremost, I love the game. Some of my greatest friendships and memories are the result of lacrosse. Everything from camps, to summer leagues, to college lacrosse has impacted my life for the better. But when everything is said and done, I just have fun doing it.
Why are you a goalie?
When I began playing modified lacrosse in 7th grade, we needed a goalie. I was never the greatest runner, so my coach suggested that I try playing in goal. I was hesitant at first, but after practicing for a week or so, I really got into it. That summer I went to lacrosse camp as a goalie and I have stuck with it ever since.
How important is the goalie position?
I think the goalie position is very important. When a goalie plays well, it gives his team confidence. When teams play with confidence, they win games.
Any advice for aspiring goalies?
My advice to any aspiring goalies is this--GO TO CAMPS! There are many different methods of playing in the goal. Your best bet is to learn as many methods as possible. Create your own method by combining all of the best aspects of each. Also, play wall ball! It is just as important for goalies as it is for attackmen, middies, and D-men.
Quote regarding the goalie position
"Step to the ball!" --It's got me this far.

Steve has been a true leader in every sense of the word. He leads by example and by his overall influence on the team. He is both very consistent, while at the same time he has a flair for the dramatic in clutch situations. We have been fortunate to have him for the last four years and will certainly miss the impact he has made. He gives us the opportunity to win every game, and we have been able to take advantage of many of those opportunities.
