#44, I chose
#44 because I wasn't able to get my original number of 22 since
there was a teammate that already had that #, so I figured I would
double it. |

Why do
you play?
I LOVE game. It is fun and exciting and a game that takes a lot
of skill. |
Why are
you a goalie?
I am a goalie because at first I was supposed to go in as an attacker
in high school, but a fatal accident happened to the other goalie.
She was hit by two cars in the school parking lot before the season
started and it took her knees out she had to get surgery on them.
So me being very energetic and crazy they decided to train me as
a goalie and it worked out great for me. It has led me to many great
things and many opportunities to come. |
How important
is the goalie position?
It is one of the most important positions and one of the most difficult
ones. You have to always be focused. You need to be mentally and
physically in the game at all times. |
Any advice
for aspiring goalies?
NEVER BE AFRAID. It won't hurt long. (HAHA) Always see ball and
step to the ball. Always stay positive! |
Quote
regarding the goalie position
Every goalie should know this. “You are but one of the team
and one on the field. When the ball is dropped, a ground ball is
missed, or a shot is missed by a teammate they get a second chance
and it doesn't go up on the board, but if you let a shot in then
it goes up on the board. Don't get down on yourself, just remember
the ball has to get through all of your teammates before it gets
to you. So it isn't always your fault. You are there to put your
skills to the test and you aren't physically possible to stop every
shot. So get it the next time. And remember don't let an easy shot
in. Always make them earn and fight hard for them.” |
“ I think that Michelle had
a good year for us. She learned so much and was very willing to learn
all we gave her. She at times played very well, but needs to develop
more consistency in the cage. Her out of the crease play improved
a lot, but more to be done in this area. She is learning to handle
the ball outside of the crease and become more effective for us. Her
clears are getting better and more sure.
I think her progress was good for this year and I expect to see much
more from her in the next three years. If she continues to learn and
put this into her game, she can become a very good GK. I was pleased
with her improvement and look for great things from her in the future.
