College Achievements
& Recognition

This is my first year starting - I haven't played the minutes to really get started having achievements, but last year I came in our Millersville game during the second half (down 11-5) and we came back to win. It was a great personal achievement. (Especially being backup)
Years Played Lax This will be my eighth year playing.

Favorite movie Love & Basketball

Why do you play?
I play goalie because it is a challenge - keeping your head in the game is the hardest part of playing this position. When life throws you curves you have to focus on playing and being your best at all times. Also, I can't imagine my life without lacrosse and playing in goal.
Why are you a goalie?
I became a goalie because I had shin splints and couldn't keep up with the amount of running, and I never returned to the field - besides I like showing off my bruises.
How important is the goalie position?
The goalie position is one of the most important positions on the field, because you are leading the team and can see the entire field. It is your job to be the director of your defense, and you are the last thing between that ball and the goal. You must always be on top of your game, because the team depends on you.
Any advice for aspiring goalies?
Practice, and find what helps you focus. Take 5-10 minutes before practice and games to calm yourself, and envision yourself stopping every ball that comes your way. Imagine and know just how unstoppable you are!!
Quote regarding the goalie position
This is a quote from my best friend for me from high school - if you consider every goalie to be a "wall" then it works: "The only excuse the offense has for not scoring, is they are shooting on THE WALL." Go get them goalies - you are AWESOME!!

Comments from 2003:

Linda did a great job this year! She is a hard worker and NEVER complains, or thust the responsibility on her defenders! She tries to communicate to her defenders, let them know who/when to drop or double but she remains calm and knows that she can not let others players, her teammates or opponents take her out of her game. No matter what happens in front of her she still needs to focus on the ball and make the save! I think Linda grew most this year in reading the play and anticipating the shot/pass. This was a sound area for her last year, but executing during a game takes a lot of courage and poise.

We are very proud of her efforts and accomplishments! I can't wait for next year!
