Why do
you play?
I play because I love the sport, the camaraderie of being a part
of a great team with an amazing coach, and the experiences I have
had both on and off the field. Playing at the college level has
been amazing and has taught me a great deal about who I am and who
I want to be. |
Why are
you a goalie?
There is something about being ultimately responsible as to whether
or not the other team will score. I am a pressure player, in every
sport I have played and there isn't a position that carries more
pressure than the goalie. |
How important
is the goalie position?
I believe there is not one position that is more important than
another. Each player and each position on a team complement one
another and to say that one is more important undermines the others.
Goalies need as much skill and athleticism as the rest of the players
and play a role of equal import as any position on the field. |
Any advice
for aspiring goalies?
Go to camps or clinics and try to learn as many technical aspects
of the game and the position as you can, and then play, play, play.
Also, never feel restrained by the crease, step out and make your
presence known outside of the cage. |
Comments from 2003:
“ Sarah Grenert is a poised,
calm, skilled Goalie. Every aspect of her game is outstanding. Her
Low shots, High shots, interceptions, and out of crease play and clears
are excellent. She is a team leader both off and on the field as a
Junior. ”
